Selenium Nanoparticles

Selenium Nanoparticles
Bioremediation is a waste management technique that involves the use of organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site. According to the EPA, bioremediation is a “treatment that uses naturally occurring organisms to break down hazardous substances into less toxic or non toxic substances”.
Nanotechnology has introduced nanoparticulate form of selenium for a wide variety of applications. Due to exceptional catalytic, photoreactive, biocidal, anticancer, and antioxidant properties, selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) attract considerable interest for use in antimicrobial coatings, nutritional supplements, nanotherapeutics, diagnostics, and medical devices, as well as in other applications such as rectifiers, photocopiers, xerography, and solar cells. Preparation and synthesis of SeNPs may be conducted following different physical, chemical, or biological techniques.
